How FDLE Fingerprinting Works in Jacksonville FL
Make an Appointment and Visit Our Office
Obtain your ORI number, then schedule your fingerprinting appointment in Jacksonville, FL, by email or call +1 904-483-0976. We offer flexible appointment times to make Live Scan and FDLE fingerprinting convenient for your schedule. The ORI tells the Live Scan provider where the fingerprint submission needs to be directed. An incorrect ORI can prevent the requesting agency from receiving your results.
Prepare Your Documents
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, state ID card, or passport) and your ORI number to your appointment at Jax Fingerprinting, 10163 Fortune Parkway, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
Complete Your Fingerprinting Process
At your appointment, our Live Scan technology captures your fingerprints electronically and securely transmits the submission to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). When required, FDLE processes the state and national background check, including FBI processing. Your results are then routed to the requesting agency identified by your ORI number. A Transaction Control Number (TCN) is provided for your records and can be used to track your fingerprint transaction when applicable.
Processing & Results
The background-check results are sent to the requesting agency or organization, not normally to the Live Scan provider. The exact destination depends on the ORI and the agency’s background-screening program.
Most fingerprint results are processed within 3–5 business days, although processing times may vary by agency.
The TCN can be used to check the status of an FDLE Live Scan transaction where the applicable system provides status lookup.
How It Works
All fingerprint submissions are securely sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement through a single, electronic Live Scan process.
Your results are then processed by FDLE and, when required, forwarded to the FBI for national background screening. The agency that receives your results is determined by your ORI number.
This means your fingerprints are not sent to multiple places separately- everything is processed through FDLE, and then routed automatically to the correct requesting agency, such as DCF, DOE, DOH, AHCA, VR, or APD, based on your application requirements.
