Fingerprint results are required before a Florida educator certificate can be issued.
Any criminal record will be reviewed by Professional Practices Services before approval.

Employees of Florida traditional public schools and charter schools are fingerprinted through their school district’s personnel office as part of the hiring process.
- Results are returned to the hiring school district
- Most results are automatically forwarded to Educator Certification
- If fingerprints are clear, certification is typically issued within 30 days after receipt of results by the Bureau
If Issues Are Found:
- Any criminal record will be reviewed by Professional Practices Services
- Applicants may be contacted for additional documentation or review
- Certification issuance will remain pending until the review is complete
Individuals employed in approved nonpublic (private) schools may qualify for certification if:

- The school administrator submits certification documentation to the Bureau or accrediting agency
Applicants not currently employed in a Florida school may still complete fingerprinting if applying for certification.
Important Notes:
