Processing & Results

The background-check results are sent to the requesting agency or organization, not normally to the Live Scan provider. The exact destination depends on the ORI and the agency’s background-screening program.

Most fingerprint results are processed within 3–5 business days, although processing times may vary by agency.

The TCN can be used to check the status of an FDLE Live Scan transaction where the applicable system provides status lookup.

How It Works
